Louisa Richmond
was born on June 13, 1789 in Guilford, Connecticut. She was one
of seven children born to Warren Richmond and Mary Terry. Louisa married James Jennings
on December 27, 1805 in Southold, Long Island, Suffolk County,
New York. Louisa and James were the parents of Thomas, James Warren,
Louis Henry, Hannah Ash, Mary Louisa, Lucretia Maria, Benjamin
Stephen, John, William Wallace, Warren Richmond, Abby Jane, Samuel
Brush and Albern Sherrell. Louisa died on May 12, 1867.
Warren
Richmond was born on April 20, 1767. He is the son of Jacob
Richmond and Sarah last name unknown. Warren married
Mary Terry on May 27, 1788 in
Southold, Long Island, Suffolk County, New York. Warren and Mary
were the parents of Achsa, Elias, George, James, Thomas, Louisa
and Warren. In 1790 he was in the Guilford Connecticut Census
as head of household (noted as Warner). Warren bought land in
Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut from his parents on March 28,1793.
On September 16,1801 he sold this land.
Jacob Richmond was
born between 1720 and 1730. He was the only child born to Robert
Richmond and an unknown mother. He was married to Sarah
last name unknown. Jacob and Sarah were the parents of Warren.
In March 1787 Jacob and his wife Sarah of Guilford in the county
of New Haven and state of Connecticut sold land in the county
of Middlesex in Connecticut. On March 28, 1793 Jacob and Sarah
of Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut sold their son Warren, nine
and a half acres of land in Guilford for the sum of twenty pounds.
Jacob died in 1793 in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut.
He is buried in Black Rock District, North Madison (formerly North
Bristol Parish), Guilford, Connecticut.
Robert
Richmond was born on September 18, 1702 in Middleboro, Massachusetts.
He was one of six children born to Ebenezer Richmond and
Anna Sproat. Robert married an
unknown woman and fathered Jacob. On May 17, 1733 Robert married
Martha Washburn. Robert and Martha were the parents of
Elizabeth, Lucia, Robert and Martha. After 1740 Robert married
third, Dorcas Jones. Robert and Dorcas were the parents
of Mary, Ezra and Anna.
Ebenezer Richmond
was born on May 12, 1676 in Newport, Rhode Island. He is one of
seven children born to John Richmond and Abigail Rogers. Ebenezer married Anna Sproat before 1701. Ebenezer and Anna
were the parents of Ebenezer, Robert, Anna, Rachel, Elizabeth
and Silvester. A deed dated in 1700 states that Ebenezer is of
Middleboro, Massachusetts and a deed dated 1705 states he is of
Plymouth. He was a Constable in 1706. Records of the Middle Church
state that he moved to West Plymouth in 1715 and served as a juror
in 1717.
John Richmond was born about 1627
in England. He is the eldest son born to John Richmond
and Elizabeth Nicholas. John married before 1654 Susanna
Hayward. John and Susanna were the parents of Mary, John,
Thomas and Susanna. About 1663 John married Abigail Rogers.
John and Abigail were the parents of Joseph, Edward, Samuel, Sarah,
John, Ebenezer and Abigail. John held several positions including
Commissioner, Surveyor and Constable. In 1671, John and four others
bought a tract of land from the Indian Sachem, "King Philip",
which included the whole area of Taunton. In 1672, with James
Walker, he was appointed to buy additional land from the Indians.
In March of 1677 John was one of the distributors of the money
known as the "Irish Charity" which was sent from Dublin,
Ireland to be used for the relief of sufferers from King Philip's
War. He was a member of the town council in 1675, 1676 and 1690.
In 1712 and 1713 gave deeds of land to his son Edward. John died
on October 7, 1715 in Taunton, Plymouth, Massachusetts and is
buried there.
John Richmond was
born in 1594 in Ashton, Keynes, Wiltshire, England and was christened
in 1597. John married Elizabeth Nicholas. John and Elizabeth
were the parents of John, Edward, Sarah and Mary. John died on
March 20, 1664 in Taunton, Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Will Abstract:
John's will states that he was of Taunton
in Plymouth. To his son John - my purchase held in Taunton. To
his son-in-law William Paul and Mary his wife - 40 acres of land
at Squamicott. The hammock and the set of sheets. To his son Edward
and grandson Edward - 40 acres of land at Squamicott. His youngest
son Edward got all of the wearing apparel. To his son-in-law Edward
Rew and Sarah his wife - 1/2 share of land at Squamicott. All
the goods in Edward's house, except the hammock and a set of sheets.
To his son John and John's son - the remainder of the land at
Squamicott. To his son John - his mare. All debts that are due
to be received and all debts that are payable are to be handled
by John. All the goods in John's present house. The cow to defray
funeral charges. All my writings in my chest which is at Edward
Rew's house. Appointed Executor.
Witnesses: Joseph Wilbore and Shadrach Wilbore.
ElizabethNicholas immigrated
to America onboard the "Susan & Ellen". Elizabeth
died in Taunton, Plymouth, Massachusetts.
